Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Begin by trimming the minari. Cut off any tough or dirty ends from the bottom of the stems. Then, wash the minari thoroughly under running water. For extra peace of mind, soak the minari in a bowl of water with a tablespoon of vinegar for about 10 minutes. This helps to clean it thoroughly. Gently toss the minari midway through soaking.
Step 2
Now, let’s prepare the delicious seasoning. Using a standard tablespoon, combine 2 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1.5 Tbsp of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), 1 Tbsp of sugar, 1 Tbsp of vinegar, and 1 Tbsp of sesame oil in a small bowl. Whisk everything together until well combined. The sugar balances the flavors and cuts through any slight bitterness of the minari. Feel free to adjust the sugar or vinegar slightly to your personal taste preference.
Step 3
Place the washed and drained minari into a mixing bowl. Pour the prepared seasoning over the minari. Gently toss the minari with your hands, being careful not to mash or bruise the delicate herb. The key is to coat the minari evenly with the dressing without overworking it. This ensures the salad remains crisp and refreshing.
Step 4
Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of toasted sesame seeds over the top for a fragrant finish. Your quick and flavorful Minari Namul Salad is ready! It’s a fantastic side dish that pairs wonderfully with a bowl of warm rice. Enjoy the fresh, crisp taste of this simple, no-cook salad!
