Quick & Easy Seeded Hotteok with Bread
No-Oven _ Making Seeded Hotteok with Bread!
Spending all day with the kids lately makes preparing snacks a big task, doesn’t it? That’s why I made this super simple version of bread seed hotteok! It’s a quick and satisfying snack that’s perfect for any time.
Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- 1 pack of assorted nuts (e.g., ‘Haru Kkandak’ or similar mixed nuts, about 30-40g)
- 1 Tbsp honey
- A little egg white (optional)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Trim the crusts off the bread slices using a knife. Then, use a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread. You don’t need to roll them extremely thin, just enough to make them easier to fill.
Step 2
Take one packet of assorted nuts. Roughly chop them into smaller pieces. Mixing these chopped nuts with 1 tablespoon of honey creates a delicious filling for your hotteok.
Step 3
Place the nut and honey mixture generously in the center of one flattened bread slice. Then, cover it with the second slice of bread. For a better seal, you can lightly brush the edges of the bread with a little egg white to help them stick together securely. (However, if you’re in a hurry or prefer to skip this, it’s okay! The honey will help hold it together.)
Step 4
Heat a pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the prepared bread pocket onto the pan and grill for a few minutes on each side until golden brown and slightly crispy. Be mindful of the heat as the honey can cause it to brown quickly. The inside will become warm and the filling delicious. Once cooked, cut the hotteok into bite-sized pieces. Serve alongside a refreshing spinach and strawberry smoothie for a complete and nutritious snack.
