Main Ingredients- 1 package soft tofu (for stew or regular)
- 2 Cheongyang peppers (Korean red chili peppers)
Seasoning Sauce- 2 Tbsp soy sauce (jin-ganjang)
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (anchovy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 1 Tbsp rice wine (mirin)
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce (jin-ganjang)
- 1 Tbsp fish sauce (anchovy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes (gochugaru)
- 1 Tbsp rice wine (mirin)
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare a deep, microwave-safe bowl. Carefully open the package of 1 soft tofu and gently place it into the bowl. It’s recommended to use a slightly deeper bowl as soft tofu can release water during cooking, preventing overflow.
Step 2
Finely chop 2 Cheongyang peppers and sprinkle them evenly over the soft tofu. Next, add the sauce ingredients: 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp fish sauce, 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes, 1 Tbsp rice wine, and 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Mix them lightly to coat the tofu. Microwave for approximately 3 minutes until heated through and the sauce has slightly thickened. (Adjust cooking time based on your microwave’s power.)
Step 3
This warm, steamed soft tofu is surprisingly delicious and light, making it a guilt-free option. The mild spicy and sweet sauce perfectly complements the delicate texture of the tofu.
Step 4
This Sundubu Jjim makes a satisfying meal when served with a bowl of rice. It’s also filling enough to be enjoyed on its own, making it a great choice for a light meal or when you’re on a diet.
