Main Ingredients- 1 medium zucchini
- 1/2 medium onion
Seasoning & Stir-frying Ingredients- 1 Tbsp soy sauce (use soup soy sauce or regular soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp salted shrimp, minced
- 1/4 cup water (standard paper cup)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce (use soup soy sauce or regular soy sauce)
- 1 Tbsp salted shrimp, minced
- 1/4 cup water (standard paper cup)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- A pinch of sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the zucchini thoroughly, trim the ends, and slice it into 0.5cm thick half-moons or strips. Peel the onion and slice it into strips as well. Cutting them into bite-sized pieces will make them easier to eat after stir-frying.
Step 2
Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Add 1 Tbsp cooking oil and 2 Tbsp sesame oil. Add 1 Tbsp minced garlic and stir-fry slowly over low heat until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic; infusing a gentle garlic aroma is key.
Step 3
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the prepared zucchini and onion. Increase the heat to medium and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the zucchini becomes translucent and softens.
Step 4
When the zucchini and onion are somewhat cooked, add 1 Tbsp minced salted shrimp, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1/4 tsp salt, and 1/4 cup water. Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes, ensuring the ingredients and seasonings are well combined. Salted shrimp adds a great umami flavor, so don’t skip it!
Step 5
Finally, turn off the heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds for a delicious finish! It’s incredibly tasty served over warm rice. For an extra kick, you can add chopped red or green chili peppers to your preference.
