- 300ml cold water (use a standard measuring cup)
- 1/2 tomato
- 1/4 cucumber
- 1/3 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- Ice cubes, as needed
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the agar-agar (Umu). Rinse it thoroughly under running water, then cut it into long, bite-sized strips. Cutting them to about 0.5cm thickness will give a pleasant texture.
Step 2
Let’s make the savory soybean powder broth! In a bowl, combine the soybean powder with 300ml of cold water. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1/3 teaspoon of salt. Mix well until smooth and there are no lumps. For an even smoother consistency, you can use a blender.
Step 3
Prepare the other ingredients. Wash the cucumber well and julienne it thinly. Remove the stem from the tomato and cut it into 3-4 wedges or bite-sized pieces.
Step 4
Now, it’s time to combine everything and complete your refreshing Umu Naengguk! Add the cut agar-agar, julienned cucumber, and tomato pieces to the prepared soybean broth. Finally, add plenty of ice cubes for extra coolness. Your delicious Umu Naengguk is ready to be enjoyed!
