Salad Kimbap – Kimbap made with apples and vegetables
A delightful kimbap bursting with the crispness of apples, fresh vegetables, and tender imitation crab sticks, all tossed in a creamy mayonnaise dressing.
Main Ingredients- 2-3 sheets of kimbap seaweed
- 2.5 cups of cooked rice
- 1/2 apple
- 1/2 cucumber
- 2 sticks of imitation crab (surimi)
- 1/2 carrot
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the kimbap fillings. Wash the cucumber, carrot, and apple thoroughly, then slice them into long, thin strips. Tear the imitation crab sticks into bite-sized pieces by hand. You can leave the apple’s peel on after removing the core.

Season the warm, freshly cooked rice with sesame oil, salt, and sesame seeds. Mix gently to ensure the rice grains remain distinct and fluffy.

In a large bowl, combine all the prepared ingredients: the julienned cucumber, carrot, and apple, along with the torn imitation crab sticks.

Add 2 to 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise to the bowl. For an extra touch of flavor, feel free to add a pinch of freshly ground black pepper if you like.

Gently toss all the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to mash the ingredients; a gentle mix is key to maintaining their texture.

Spread the seasoned rice thinly and evenly over a sheet of kimbap seaweed, leaving a small margin at the top edge. Ensure the rough side of the seaweed is facing upwards.

Carefully flip the seaweed sheet so the smooth side is facing up. Arrange the prepared salad filling evenly over the rice, leaving about an inch border at the far edge. Starting from the edge closest to you, roll the kimbap tightly to enclose the filling.

Once rolled, wrap the kimbap tightly in plastic wrap. Let it rest for about 10-15 minutes. This step helps the rice grains adhere firmly, resulting in a more stable and neatly shaped kimbap when sliced.
