Flavorful Seaweed Soup with Fresh Clams
A hearty and nutritious clam and seaweed soup, perfect for a comforting meal. The briny clams and tender seaweed create a deeply savory and refreshing broth.
Main Ingredients- 1 handful dried seaweed (approx. 10-15g)
- 120g clam meat
Seasoning & Others- Fish sauce or soy sauce to taste (optional)
- Salt to taste (optional)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2000ml water (approx. 8 cups)
- Fish sauce or soy sauce to taste (optional)
- Salt to taste (optional)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 2000ml water (approx. 8 cups)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the dried seaweed in cold water for about 15-20 minutes until fully rehydrated. Rinse the soaked seaweed thoroughly, squeeze out excess water, and cut it into bite-sized pieces. Rinse the clam meat several times under running water to remove any grit or debris, then drain it well.
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the prepared seaweed and clam meat. If using, add a pinch of salt and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Stir-frying helps to enhance the umami flavor of the seaweed and reduce any potential fishiness from the clams.
Step 3
Pour in 2000ml (about 8 cups) of water. Bring the soup to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat and let it simmer gently.
Step 4
Continue to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the broth becomes milky and the seaweed and clams are tender. Season the soup with fish sauce or soy sauce to your preference, and adjust with salt if needed. Ladle into bowls and serve hot. Enjoy this delicious and comforting soup!
