Ingredients

  • Fresh mint leaves
  • 4 limes
  • 5 Tbsp lemon syrup (or lemon preserves)
  • 200ml sparkling water
  • Ice cubes, as needed

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the limes. You can easily find them at large supermarkets. To clean them thoroughly, rub the limes with baking soda, then rinse them multiple times under cold running water. This step helps remove any surface impurities.

Step 1

Step 2

Prepare three of the cleaned limes for placing directly into the drink. These three limes should weigh approximately 30 grams; this is a helpful measurement if you don’t have a scale. Take the remaining lime and make a small cut to garnish the rim of your glass.

Step 2

Step 3

The fresh mint leaves are crucial for the aromatic essence of the Mojito! Gently pluck the leaves from the stems and set them aside. You don’t need to use the stems.

Step 3

Step 4

Place the mint leaves in a bowl of cold water. Add a small amount of calcium powder, an eco-friendly cleanser, and let them soak for about 2-3 minutes. Afterward, rinse them thoroughly under running water three to four times to ensure they are fresh and clean.

Step 4

Step 5

Gently pat the mint leaves dry. Instead of muddling them with a mortar and pestle as in traditional recipes, simply rub the leaves between your hands. This action releases a wonderful mint aroma, simplifying the process while preserving the flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, let’s assemble the drink. In your chosen glass, add the three lime slices. Then, add the mint leaves that you’ve gently rubbed to release their fragrance. Pour in 5 tablespoons of lemon syrup, followed by a generous amount of ice cubes.

Step 6

Step 7

Finally, slowly pour in 200ml of chilled sparkling water. See those bubbles rising? They’ll enhance the refreshing taste of the mint and lime. Give it a gentle stir and enjoy your delicious homemade Mojito!
