Ingredients

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 1 apple
  • 2 tangerines (or small oranges)
  • 180g pineapple chunks
  • 100g red grapes
  • 1 lemon
  • Tonic water (to taste)
  • Brown sugar (to taste)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Thoroughly wash the apple, lemon, and tangerines that will be used with their peels on. Sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda and scrub them under running water to remove any pesticides or impurities. This is a crucial step for ensuring their cleanliness.

Step 1

Step 2

After ensuring the fruits are completely dry, remove any seeds and chop them into bite-sized pieces or your preferred size. You can also peel the tangerines and use only the segments.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the pineapple chunks for a touch of sweetness. For the red grapes, cut them in half to help release their juice and flavor into the wine.

Step 3

Step 4

Trim the ends off the prepared lemon and tangerines, then juice the main parts and add the juice to the glass jar. For an extra aromatic boost, you can also finely julienne some of the lemon zest (the yellow part of the peel).

Step 4

Step 5

Add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and gently toss with the fruits. The sugar will help draw out the fruit’s juices, allowing them to meld beautifully with the wine. Adjust sweetness to your preference.

Step 5

Step 6

Use a spacious glass jar with a wide opening. Add all the fruits that have been tossed with sugar into the jar.

Step 6

Step 7

Pour in the lemon and tangerine juice that you juiced earlier. This will further enhance the rich flavor and aroma of the fruits in your sangria.

Step 7

Step 8

Pour the red wine over the fruits, using the entire bottle. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to fully infuse. The longer it rests, the deeper the fruit essence will become.

Step 8

Step 9

You can enjoy the sangria immediately after it has steeped, or for a lighter, more effervescent drink, top it off with tonic water or soda water to adjust the strength and add a refreshing fizz.

Step 9

Step 10

When serving, pour the sangria into wine glasses, making sure to include some fruit pieces for visual appeal. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or rosemary for an extra touch of elegance and fragrance. Enjoy your spectacular homemade sangria, the star of your home party!
