Rich and Creamy Chocolate Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 Egg Yolks
  • 80g Heavy Cream (about half a paper cup)
  • 1-2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 3 Tbsp Sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 2 fresh eggs. We’ll be using only the yolks to add creaminess and rich flavor to your ice cream. Carefully crack the eggs and separate the yolks. The egg whites can be used in other recipes.

In a bowl, add the 2 separated egg yolks. Then, add 3 tablespoons of sugar. Using a hand mixer or a whisk, whip the yolks and sugar together until they become pale yellow and well combined. It should reach a smooth consistency as the sugar dissolves.

Now it’s time to add that deep chocolate flavor! To the whipped yolk mixture, add 1-2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Stir well until everything is evenly incorporated without any lumps.

Pour 80g of chilled heavy cream into a clean glass jar or bowl. Using a hand mixer or whisk, whip the cream until it becomes thick and forms stiff peaks. This is your whipped cream base for the ice cream.

Gently pour the rich chocolate mixture you prepared earlier into the whipped cream. Use a spatula to fold the chocolate mixture into the cream, being careful not to deflate the whipped cream too much. Mix until the chocolate color is smoothly blended into the cream, creating your ice cream base.

Pour the finished ice cream mixture into an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours. For an even smoother texture, you can take it out once or twice during freezing and stir it with a fork or whisk. Enjoy your delicious homemade ice cream!
