How to Make Ryusuyeong’s Simple Restaurant-Style Rabokki Using Ramen Broth Powder
Craving delicious rabokki without the restaurant price? This recipe uses ramen broth powder for an incredibly easy and flavorful dish you can make at home! Enjoy the chewy rice cakes, springy noodles, and savory fish cakes.
Main Ingredients- 1 Jin Ramen noodle pack
- 1 stalk of green onion
- 2 sheets of fish cake
- 250g rice cake (tteokbokki style)
- 700ml water
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the green onion thoroughly. Then, slice it lengthwise once and cut into 4-5cm pieces. This ensures the green onion flavor infuses well into the broth and looks appealing.
Step 2
Cut the fish cakes into 4 equal pieces. Next, cut these pieces into triangles. This shape makes them easy to eat with the rice cakes and helps them absorb the sauce beautifully.
Step 3
In a wide pan, add the sliced green onions and 700ml of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Sautéing the green onions first like this helps to extract a refreshing onion broth base.
Step 4
Once the water is boiling, add 1/2 packet of ramen broth powder, 1.5 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, and 1 heaping Tbsp of gochujang. The ramen broth powder adds a wonderful umami flavor, mimicking that authentic restaurant taste! (Tip: Feel free to adjust the amount of soy sauce and gochujang to your personal preference. If you like it spicier, you can also add 1/2 to 1 Tbsp of chili powder at this stage.)
Step 5
When the sauce is vigorously boiling, add the prepared fish cakes and rice cakes. Simmer for about 3 minutes. It’s important to cook until the rice cakes become tender and absorb the delicious sauce.
Step 6
Once the rice cakes are plump and cooked through, add the Jin Ramen noodles. Cook for another 3 minutes. Be mindful of the cooking time to prevent the noodles from becoming mushy. Your delicious rabokki is now ready to be enjoyed!
