  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 1.5 Tbsp
  • Coarse gochugaru (Korean chili flakes) 1 Tbsp
  • Corn syrup 1 Tbsp (or rice syrup)
  • Minced garlic 1 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the sausages and vegetables for the topping. We’ll be eating this with a spoon, so cut everything into bite-sized pieces that are roughly the same size. Slice the sausages about 1cm thick, and julienne the bell peppers, red bell pepper, and onion.

Step 2

Now, let’s make the special sauce that will bring this Soyageopbap to life! In a bowl, combine 4 Tbsp tomato ketchup, 1.5 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp coarse gochugaru, 1 Tbsp corn syrup, and 1 Tbsp minced garlic. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

Heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil or cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the sliced sausages and onion and stir-fry until the onion becomes translucent and the edges of the sausages are lightly browned.

Once the onion starts to turn golden, add the prepared bell peppers and red bell pepper. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly. Add another tablespoon of olive oil or cooking oil at this stage to ensure the vegetables cook evenly without burning, giving them a nice sheen.

Continue to stir-fry the vegetables over high heat for about 1-2 minutes. It’s important to keep the vegetables slightly crisp, so avoid overcooking. Stir-fry just until the onion is tender.
