Main Ingredients- 1 pack Vienna sausages (approx. 200g)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 bell pepper (use various colors for visual appeal)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
Sauce- 4 Tbsp ketchup
- 1.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
- 4 Tbsp ketchup
- 1.5 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 2 Tbsp oligosaccharide (or corn syrup)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Score the Vienna sausages to help them absorb the sauce better. Making diagonal cuts in both directions will create a lovely, appealing shape as they cook. If you’re short on time, you can skip scoring them.
Step 2
Slice the onion and cut the bell pepper into bite-sized pieces after removing the seeds. Feel free to substitute or add other vegetables like carrots or mushrooms that you have on hand. This stir-fry is delicious with almost any vegetable!
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients: ketchup, oyster sauce, and oligosaccharide. Having the sauce pre-mixed makes the cooking process much smoother.
Step 4
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Step 5
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the sliced onions and stir-fry until they become translucent. We’ll add the bell peppers later to keep them crisp.
Step 6
When the onions are partially cooked, add the scored Vienna sausages and continue to stir-fry. Cook until the scores on the sausages begin to open up slightly.
Step 7
As the sausages start to brown, pour in the pre-mixed sauce. Stir everything together well, ensuring the sauce coats all the ingredients evenly.
Step 8
The stir-fry is almost ready when the sauce has thickened and coated everything with a glossy sheen. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed, perhaps adding a touch more sugar or soy sauce according to your preference.
Step 9
Finally, add the chopped bell peppers and stir-fry over high heat for about 1 minute. This will keep them vibrant and pleasantly crunchy. Avoid overcooking, as they can become mushy.
Step 10
Turn off the heat and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a finishing touch. If you don’t have sesame seeds, feel free to omit them. Serve hot over rice for a delightful meal!
