Sautéed Asparagus and Cocktail Shrimp: A Delicious Side Dish
Quick and Nutritious Side Dish: Asparagus and Cocktail Shrimp Stir-Fry
This sautéed asparagus and cocktail shrimp dish is incredibly delicious! It might look like a lot of ingredients initially, but once cooked, it reduces to a perfect side dish for about two people. The fresh asparagus provides a wonderful crispness, and the plump shrimp make it a satisfying meal.
Main Ingredients- Fresh asparagus, 85g (after trimming)
- Large cocktail shrimp, 16 pieces
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the cocktail shrimp. You’ll need 16 plump, fresh shrimp. Rinse them gently under cold water and then drain them thoroughly. Patting them dry with a paper towel will help prevent excess moisture when stir-frying.
Step 2
Next, prepare the asparagus. Measure out 85g of asparagus (about a generous handful). Trim off the tough woody ends. If the stalks are quite thick, you can cut them in half lengthwise for more even cooking. Ensure you have 85g of asparagus after trimming and cutting.
Step 3
Now, let’s begin stir-frying. Heat a pan over medium-low heat and add the olive oil (2 Tbsp) and minced garlic (1/2 Tbsp). Sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Stir them together.
Step 4
Once the garlic is fragrant, add the prepared cocktail shrimp to the pan. Stir-fry them briefly until they start to turn pink. Immediately add the trimmed asparagus to the pan. Continue to stir-fry, tossing the shrimp and asparagus together.
Step 5
Add the oyster sauce (2 Tbsp, do not overfill the spoon) and mix everything well. Continue to cook for another minute or so until the shrimp are fully cooked and the asparagus is tender-crisp. Turn off the heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds (1/2 Tbsp), and give it a final toss. Your delicious sautéed asparagus and shrimp is ready to be enjoyed!
