Main Ingredients

  • 1 package of square fish cakes (you can choose your preferred type)
  • 1/2 bell pepper (using different colors will make it visually appealing)
  • 200g mushrooms (oyster, shiitake, king oyster, or any you like)
  • 2 imitation crab sticks or surimi sticks (optional, adds extra flavor)

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1.5 Tbsp oyster sauce (the key to umami!)
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp olive oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide (for shine and sweetness)
  • A little water (to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the fish cakes into bite-sized pieces. Smaller pieces are great for kids. For a cleaner taste, you can briefly blanch the fish cakes in boiling water to remove excess oil.

Step 1

Step 2

Wash the colorful bell pepper, remove the seeds, and cut it into pieces similar in size to the fish cakes. The crispness of the bell pepper adds a refreshing element to the dish.

Step 2

Step 3

Trim the ends of the mushrooms, rinse them lightly under running water, and pat them dry. Tear or slice them into manageable pieces. Different types of mushrooms will offer varying textures and aromas, making the dish more interesting.

Step 3

Step 4

Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the prepared fish cakes, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Stir-fry them together. If you’re using imitation crab sticks, shred them and add them at this stage as well for a richer flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Once the ingredients are partially cooked, add 1.5 tablespoons of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon of oligosaccharide. Stir well to combine with the ingredients. To prevent sticking and ensure even coating, add a small amount of water (about 1-2 tablespoons) and continue to stir-fry.

Step 5

Step 6

When the ingredients are cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Fish cakes are often salty, so start with less seasoning. Add more soy sauce if it’s too bland, or a bit more oligosaccharide if you prefer it sweeter.

Step 6

Step 7

Your delicious stir-fried fish cake is ready! It’s perfect served over warm rice like a donburi or as a side dish. Enjoy your flavorful meal!
