Main Ingredients- 300g Boiled Peanuts (outer skins removed)
- 300g Water
Braising Sauce- 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or Cooking Wine)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2.5 Tbsp Corn Syrup (Oligodang)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 4 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (or Cooking Wine)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2.5 Tbsp Corn Syrup (Oligodang)
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the fresh peanuts by boiling them until tender. Once boiled, gently remove their outer skins. It’s okay if the thin inner skin remains attached; this helps retain the peanuts’ rich flavor.
Step 2
In a bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the braising sauce: 4 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp mirin, 1/2 Tbsp sugar, and 2.5 Tbsp corn syrup. Stir until well combined and set aside.
Step 3
In a wide pan, combine the prepared boiled peanuts and 300g of fresh water. Pour in the prepared braising sauce. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, and cook until the liquid starts to reduce.
Step 4
Once the sauce has thickened and coats the peanuts, reduce the heat to low. Add 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil and 1/2 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds. Gently stir to combine and continue to cook until the peanuts are glossy and the sauce is well reduced.
Step 5
The braised peanuts are ready when there is very little liquid left in the pan. Let them cool slightly before storing in an airtight container. They can be enjoyed as a delicious side dish with rice or as a healthy snack.
