Main Ingredients- 150g Ground Beef
- 1 block Tofu (approx. 300g)
- 2 pinches Salt
- 1/2 stalk Green Onion (approx. 50g)
Beef Marinade- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Cooking Wine (Mirin, etc.)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- Pinch of Black Pepper
- 1/2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
Braising Sauce- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Cooking Wine (Mirin, etc.)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil

- 3 Tbsp Water

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, in a bowl, combine the 150g of ground beef with 1/2 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp cooking wine, 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic, a pinch of black pepper, and 1/2 Tbsp sesame oil. Mix gently by hand to marinate the beef. Ensure all ingredients are well combined for the best flavor.
Step 2
Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces, about 2cm thick. Press the cut tofu gently with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This step is crucial to prevent the tofu from breaking apart while cooking and to minimize oil splattering. Sprinkle the surface of the drained tofu with 2 pinches of salt for seasoning.

Finely chop the green onion. You can use both the white and green parts for a richer flavor.

Let’s prepare the delicious braising sauce. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp cooking wine, 1 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, a pinch of black pepper, and 3 Tbsp water until well combined.

Heat a skillet over medium-low heat and add a generous amount of cooking oil. Place the seasoned tofu pieces in a single layer and pan-fry until they are golden brown and slightly firm on both sides. Frying until slightly crisp will enhance the texture.

Clear a space in the skillet next to the fried tofu. Add the marinated ground beef and stir-fry. It’s best to cook over medium heat, breaking up the clumps of meat with your spatula as it cooks, to achieve a fluffy texture.

Once the ground beef is fully cooked and has changed color, add the chopped green onions and stir-fry for a minute to release their aroma. Pour in the prepared braising sauce, coating the tofu and beef evenly. Simmer over low heat, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken slightly. Slow simmering will help the sauce penetrate deeply.
Step 8
