Today, I’m sharing a recipe for ‘Ham and Potato Fried Rice’ that’s hearty and delicious, packed with ham and potatoes. While ham alone or potatoes alone are tasty, combining them elevates the flavor even further! With just a touch of oyster sauce for a deep umami taste, anyone can easily make delicious fried rice. From nostalgic childhood flavors to a filling meal, this ham and potato fried rice is loved by all ages. Let’s get started!
Key Ingredients- 1 bowl of warm cooked rice (approx. 200g)
- 200g ham (sliced or diced)
- 1 medium potato (approx. 150g)
- 1/4 carrot (approx. 30g)
- 1/2 white part of a leek (approx. 50g)
- 1 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 3 Tbsp cooking oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the leek, which will add aromatic depth to your fried rice. Finely chop the white part of the leek into pieces about 0.3cm thick. This way, it will have a pleasant texture and a vibrant aroma when stir-fried.
Step 2
Wash the potato thoroughly, then dice it into cubes approximately 0.5cm x 0.5cm. Avoid cutting them too small, or they might become mushy while stir-frying. Aim for a consistent, bite-sized piece.

Dice the carrot into similar cubes, about 0.5cm x 0.5cm, just like the potatoes. Carrots not only add a beautiful color but also contribute a natural sweetness that enhances the overall flavor of the fried rice.

For the ham, you can use sliced or diced ham, according to your preference. Cut the ham into pieces about 0.5cm x 0.5cm, similar to the potatoes and carrots. The natural oils released from the ham as it cooks will add richness to your fried rice.
