A staple in our home is always a comforting soup or stew. Today, I’m sharing a quick and easy recipe for a delicious perilla seed radish soup. Its nutty aroma and light, refreshing taste make it a family favorite. Perfect for enjoying with rice, it’s a satisfying meal on its own.

Main Ingredients
  • Radish (1/6 of a medium radish) approx. 100g
  • Green chili pepper 1
  • Scallion (green onion) 1/2 stalk

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, pour 5 cups of your chosen broth into a pot and bring it to a boil for 1 minute. Once boiling, remove the broth bag or any solid ingredients, leaving only the clear broth. Then, add the thinly julienned radish to the pot and cook over medium heat.

Step 2

When the radish starts to turn translucent and tender, add 1 tablespoon of anchovy sauce to season. Using anchovy sauce adds a wonderful depth of flavor. Finally, stir in 2 tablespoons of ground perilla seeds for a rich, nutty taste, ensuring they dissolve smoothly without lumps.

Step 3

Once the soup returns to a simmer, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and the diagonally sliced scallions. Let it cook for another moment until the flavors meld. Turn off the heat and your delicious perilla seed radish soup is ready. For an extra touch, you can add a pinch of black pepper to taste.
