Savory Scallion Butter Toast
Make a Delicious Scallion Butter Toast with Sugar Butter Toast Flavor
Dieting is one thing, but sometimes you just need a simple toast to enjoy with your coffee. Have you ever felt that coffee is incomplete without a little something sweet? That might be why I love bakery cafes so much! It’s almost as if I’m drinking coffee just to eat the pastries, cookies, and toasts. Anyway, I’ve added fresh green scallions to the classic sugar butter toast, making it a perfect accompaniment for your coffee. This toast offers a delightful balance of sweetness from the butter and sugar, with a refreshing, subtle bite from the scallions.
Ingredients- 2 Tbsp Butter, softened at room temperature
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 2 slices Bread
- 10 stalks Scallions (Green Onions)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the 10 scallion stalks. Trim and wash them thoroughly, then finely chop them. The finer you chop them, the better they will incorporate into the butter mixture and distribute their flavor.
Step 2
In a bowl, combine the 2 tablespoons of softened butter with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Cream them together using a spatula or fork until the mixture is smooth and well combined, with no lumps of sugar remaining. This forms your sweet butter base.
Step 3
Add the finely chopped scallions to the sugar butter mixture. Stir everything together until the scallions are evenly distributed throughout the butter. The vibrant green of the scallions will create an appealing visual.
Step 4
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place the 2 slices of bread on the prepared sheet. Divide the scallion butter mixture in half and spread it evenly over the surface of each slice of bread, all the way to the edges for maximum flavor.
Step 5
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the bread slices in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes. Keep an eye on them; you want them to be golden brown and slightly crisp. Baking time may vary depending on your oven.
Step 6
Once baked to a beautiful golden hue, remove the toast from the oven. Cut each slice into 4 equal pieces. This toast is best enjoyed warm, right after baking, to fully appreciate its crispy texture and fragrant aroma.
