Main Ingredients
- 1 serving of pasta
- 1/2 onion
- 5 cloves of garlic
- 3 strips of bacon
- 2 Korean green chili peppers (Cheongyang peppers)
Sauce
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp sugar
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare the ingredients that will add flavor to our pasta. Finely chop 2 Korean green chili peppers (you can remove the seeds if you prefer less heat) to bring out their spicy aroma. Thinly slice half an onion into strips. Mince 5 cloves of garlic into thin slices, perfect for infusing flavor, and cut 3 strips of bacon into bite-sized pieces (about 1-2 cm). Having all your ingredients prepped beforehand will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Now it’s time to cook the pasta. Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil, then add half a tablespoon of salt. This seasons the pasta as it cooks, making it more flavorful. Add 1 serving of pasta and cook it according to the package directions, but aim for ‘al dente’ – about 1 minute less than the recommended time. It’s important not to overcook the pasta, as it will be stir-fried in the pan later.
Step 3
While the pasta is cooking, let’s prepare the sauce and stir-fry the other ingredients. Heat a little cooking oil in a pan over low heat. Add the sliced garlic and gently sauté until it becomes fragrant and lightly golden. Once the garlic is fragrant, increase the heat to medium, add the bacon and sliced onion, and continue to stir-fry. The bacon fat will render, adding a delicious savory note, and the onions should become translucent.
Step 4
When the onions are softened and translucent, add the chopped green chili peppers and stir-fry for about another 30 seconds to release their spicy aroma. Now, add the cooked pasta and the sauce mixture (2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, 1 Tbsp sugar) to the pan. Quickly toss everything together and stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes, ensuring the pasta is well-coated with the sauce and develops a glossy finish. Once combined and heated through, your delicious soy sauce pasta is ready! Serve immediately and enjoy.
