Main Ingredients
- Spam (about half a can, or to taste)
- 1 large Egg
- 1/4 Green Onion
For Cooking
- Canola oil (or cooking oil), a small amount
- Canola oil (or cooking oil), a small amount
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the green onion to add aromatic flavor to your delicious rice bowl. Wash the green onion thoroughly and thinly slice it crosswise into about 0.5 cm (1/4 inch) pieces. Place all the sliced green onion in the pan.
Step 2
Next, cut the Spam into bite-sized pieces. You can dice it into cubes or slice it thinly. Adjust the thickness according to your preference. Add the cut Spam to the pan along with the green onions.
Step 3
Add a small amount of canola oil to the pan and stir-fry the Spam and green onions together over medium-low heat. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until the Spam is golden brown and the green onions are fragrant. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning.
Step 4
Now it’s time to cook the egg. Tilt the pan slightly and push the sautéed Spam and green onions to one side. Crack the egg into the empty space. It’s crucial to reduce the heat to low at this point. You can cook the egg to your liking: for a runny yolk, cook just until the egg white is set; for a firm yolk, gently break the yolk with a chopstick and cook through. (Keep the heat on low!)
Step 5
Serve the warm rice in a bowl. Top it beautifully with the freshly stir-fried Spam and green onions, and the golden-brown cooked egg. Your wonderful Spam and Egg Rice Bowl is now complete! For an extra touch of flavor, you can drizzle a little soy sauce or sesame oil over it.
