Main Ingredients

  • Seafood Fish Cake Balls 150~200g (Recommended: store brand)
  • 1 Onion
  • A bit of Green Onion (about 1/2 stalk)

Seasoning & Aromatics

  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce (for stir-frying)
  • 1 tsp Oyster Sauce
  • 2~3 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup or similar sweetener, adjust to taste)
  • A little Sesame Oil
  • A little Sesame Seeds

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the seafood fish cake balls. You can briefly blanch them in boiling water or use them directly in the pan (your preference). Place the prepared fish cake balls into a stir-fry pan.

Step 1

Step 2

Peel and wash the onion, then cut it into bite-sized pieces. Slice the green onion diagonally or chop it roughly. Cutting the vegetables slightly larger helps maintain their texture during stir-frying, preventing them from becoming too mushy.

Step 2

Step 3

Add the sliced onion and green onion to the pan with the fish cake balls. Drizzle in 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Stir-fry over medium heat, mixing the ingredients as they cook, until the onion becomes slightly translucent. Then, quickly add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of oyster sauce, and 2-3 tablespoons of oligodang. Stir vigorously for about 3-4 minutes to combine everything evenly, allowing the savory flavors of soy and oyster sauce, along with the sweetness of the oligodang, to coat the fish cake balls and vegetables. Adjust the amount of oligodang to suit your preferred level of sweetness.

Step 3

Step 4

Once all ingredients are well-stirred and cooked, turn off the heat. Just before or right after turning off the stove, sprinkle a little sesame oil and sesame seeds for an added nutty aroma. Your delicious seafood fish cake ball stir-fry is now complete.

Step 4

Step 5

This seafood fish cake stir-fry is wonderfully balanced with a ‘sweet and savory’ (dan-jjan) flavor profile, complemented by the slightly spicy kick from the fish cakes themselves and the enjoyable chewy texture of the seafood. It’s an excellent side dish for rice and a versatile recipe that’s easy to make.
