Savory Stir-Fried Shiitake Mushrooms and Bell Peppers: A Quick Side Dish Recipe
Easy Stir-Fried Shiitake and Bell Pepper Recipe – A Perfect Simple Side Dish
Create a simple yet delicious side dish by stir-frying fresh shiitake mushrooms with vibrant bell peppers. This recipe is not only quick and easy but also packed with delightful textures and flavors, making it a fantastic addition to any meal.
Main Ingredients- 150g ground pork (beef mince can be substituted)
- 2 shiitake mushrooms (adjust quantity based on size)
- 1 bell pepper (regular size)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the ground pork. If you prefer beef, you can substitute it with ground beef for a different yet equally delicious flavor. Any cut of ground pork, such as from the shoulder or leg, works well, so feel free to use what you have on hand or prefer.
Step 2
Gently rinse the shiitake mushrooms under running water to remove any dirt. Slice them thinly. If you enjoy a chewier texture, slice them slightly thicker, about 0.5 cm. For a softer bite, slice them even thinner. I’m using two large shiitake mushrooms here, but feel free to add more if you love the mushroom flavor. Next, prepare the bell pepper. Wash it thoroughly, cut it in half, remove all the seeds, and slice it to a similar thickness as the shiitake mushrooms.
Step 3
Now, let’s begin cooking this delightful stir-fry! Get a wide pan and heat it over medium heat without adding any oil. Once the pan is hot, add the ground pork and minced garlic (2 tablespoons). I like a strong garlic flavor, so I’ve added generously, but you can reduce it to 1 teaspoon if you prefer a milder garlic taste.
Step 4
Add the cooking wine (2 tablespoons). This helps to remove any gamey odor from the meat and adds a wonderful depth of flavor. I used a generous amount to ensure the meat smells fresh.
Step 5
Using cooking chopsticks or a spatula, break up the ground pork and stir-fry until it’s mostly cooked through. Keep stirring to ensure even cooking and prevent clumping.
Step 6
When the pork is about two-thirds cooked, add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce. Stir well to distribute the soy sauce evenly throughout the meat, allowing the flavors to meld.
Step 7
Now it’s time to add the shiitake mushrooms. Add them to the pan and stir-fry them with the pork for a minute or two until they start to soften.
Step 8
Immediately after adding the mushrooms, toss in the sliced bell peppers. Stir everything together gently.
Step 9
Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until all ingredients are well combined and the vegetables are tender-crisp. If you prefer your bell peppers less cooked and crispier, add them at the very end, just before turning off the heat. If you like them softer, add them a bit earlier. Feel free to adjust the cooking time based on your preference! This simple process yields a wonderfully flavorful side dish.
Step 10
Serve this delicious stir-fried shiitake mushroom and bell pepper dish on a plate. It’s a perfect accompaniment to warm rice! Enjoy your homemade culinary creation. ^^
