Main Ingredients

  • 1 package MokwooChon Prime Lean Ham
  • 2 servings Somyeon (Korean thin wheat noodles, approx. 200g)
  • 1/4 Carrot
  • 1/4 Zucchini
  • 1/4 Green Onion

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, thinly slice the MokwooChon Prime Lean Ham into long, noodle-like strips, about 0.5cm thick. Slicing the ham this way gives it a pleasant chew and allows it to absorb the sauce beautifully, making it even tastier.

Step 1

Step 2

Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium heat. Add the sliced ham and stir-fry until it’s lightly browned and fragrant. The ham will release its own oils, creating a moist and flavorful result. Once cooked, set the ham aside in a separate bowl.

Step 2

Step 3

Julienne the zucchini to match the length of the ham. Slicing them to a similar thickness ensures they cook evenly and are pleasant to eat together.

Step 3

Step 4

Finely chop the green onion. The aromatic green onion will add another layer of flavor to your bibim guksu.

Step 4

Step 5

In a small bowl, combine the sauce ingredients: 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp sugar, 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds, 1 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp sesame oil, and 1 Tbsp vinegar (or to your preference). Stir well until all the ingredients are fully incorporated to create a delicious sauce. You can substitute sugar with corn syrup, and if you like a bit of spice, feel free to add red pepper flakes for a spicy version.

Step 5

Step 6

Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the somyeon noodles and cook, stirring occasionally to prevent them from sticking. When the water begins to boil over, add about 1 cup of cold water to calm it down. Once it reboils, add the prepared carrots, zucchini, and green onions, and cook them briefly until they are slightly tender but still retain a bit of crispness. Avoid overcooking the vegetables, as they can become mushy.

Step 6

Step 7

Drain the cooked noodles and vegetables thoroughly. Transfer them to a large mixing bowl. Add the stir-fried ham and the prepared soy sauce mixture. Gently toss and mix everything together with your hands or chopsticks until the noodles, vegetables, ham, and sauce are evenly coated. Your delicious Soy Sauce Bibim Guksu is now ready! Sprinkle with extra sesame seeds for a final touch.
