Separate Egg White & Yolk Rolled Omelet
A Visually Striking & Delicious Rolled Omelet Made Separating Whites and Yolks
Rolled omelets are a favorite side dish of mine; I never get tired of making them. However, my husband and daughter tend to get bored with them. So, I decided to make them more special and visually appealing by separating the egg whites and yolks! This unique approach adds a delightful twist.
Ingredients- 5 eggs
- 70g imitation crab sticks
- 2 pinches of salt
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare 5 eggs. First, carefully separate the whites and yolks of 4 eggs. Place the whites in one bowl and the yolks in another. Combine the remaining 1 egg entirely with the yolks in their bowl.
Step 2
In the bowl with the egg whites, add the finely shredded imitation crab sticks and one pinch of salt. Whisk gently with a fork or whisk until well combined. Similarly, in the bowl with the yolks (4 yolks + 1 whole egg), add one pinch of salt and whisk well. Ensuring each mixture is seasoned properly is key.
Step 3
Lightly grease a heated pan with oil. Pour in the egg white mixture with the imitation crab sticks. Tilt the pan to spread the white mixture thinly, and cook over low heat. Once one side is slightly cooked, carefully roll it up like making sushi or kimbap. Rolling the white part first creates a distinct, vibrant color.
Step 4
Move the rolled white omelet to one side of the pan. Pour the yolk mixture into the empty space. As the yolk mixture begins to cook, place the rolled white omelet on top of the yolk mixture and continue rolling them together. The trick here is to shape it so the yolk mixture encloses the white omelet neatly.
Step 5
Once all the mixture is rolled, keep the pan on low heat and gently roll the omelet to ensure even cooking on all sides. It’s done when all sides are golden brown! Allowing it to cool slightly before slicing will result in cleaner cuts, preventing the shape from falling apart.
Step 6
Slice the finished separate white and yolk rolled omelet into bite-sized pieces and arrange on a plate. This unique omelet offers a delightful contrast in texture and flavor – the delicate softness of the whites, the rich savoriness of the yolks, and the satisfying chew of the imitation crab. It’s a fantastic side dish for any meal or a special addition to a bento box.
