Main Ingredients
- 1 bundle of Seaweed (Parae), washed and prepared
- 7 Shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 Tbsp All-purpose flour
- 1 Egg
- 3 Tbsp Water
Seasoning
- 1/2 Tbsp Perilla oil (or cooking oil)
- 1/2 Tbsp Perilla oil (or cooking oil)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly rinse the seaweed (Parae) under running water to remove any grit. Gently squeeze out excess water and finely chop it into bite-sized pieces, about 1cm in length. Prepare the shrimp by peeling and deveining them. If the shrimp are large, consider cutting them in half for easier handling.
Step 2
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the chopped seaweed, all-purpose flour, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons of water, and 1/2 tablespoon of perilla oil for a nutty aroma. Whisk everything together thoroughly with a spoon or whisk until a smooth batter forms. Ensure there are no lumps. The batter should be thick enough to hold its shape but pourable.
Step 3
Heat about 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil in a non-stick pan over medium-low heat. Spoon about one tablespoon of the batter onto the hot pan, gently spreading it into small, round pancakes. Arrange the prepared shrimp pieces decoratively on top of each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Carefully flip the pancakes using a spatula and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until golden brown and the shrimp are cooked through. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.
Step 4
Your delicious Shrimp and Seaweed Pancakes are now ready to be enjoyed! Serve them hot for the best experience, savoring the fragrant notes of the seaweed and the satisfying chewiness of the shrimp. For an extra kick, you can serve them with a simple soy-based dipping sauce.
