Main Ingredients- 20 frozen shrimp (medium-sized)
- 3 Tbsp minced garlic (generous amount)
- 1/2 green onion (white part mainly)
- 1 tsp dried chili flakes (or 1 dried chili pepper, deseeded and finely chopped)
- 40g unsalted butter
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 3 pinches of salt
- A dash of black pepper
- A sprinkle of red pepper flakes (optional)
- A sprinkle of parsley flakes (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, place the frozen shrimp in a bowl and soak them in cold water to thaw. Let them sit for about 10-15 minutes until tender.
Step 2
Once thawed, rinse the shrimp thoroughly under cold running water 2-3 times. After rinsing, pat them dry with paper towels or a clean cloth. This is crucial for the butter sauce to cook evenly and taste clean.
Step 3
Season the dried shrimp with 3 pinches of salt and a dash of black pepper. Gently toss them with your hands to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed for maximum flavor.
Step 4
Finely chop the green onion into about 0.5cm pieces. Using the white part adds a lovely sweetness and aroma. Finely chop the dried chili flakes as well.
Step 5
Heat a pan over medium heat, then add the butter and olive oil. Gently melt them, being careful not to let the butter burn. It’s important to melt it slowly over gentle heat.
Step 6
Once the butter starts to bubble, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the minced garlic and chopped green onion. Sauté them gently, ensuring they don’t burn.
Step 7
Continue to sauté the garlic and green onion until they are lightly golden and fragrant, almost as if you’re frying them. This process will bring out their rich, savory flavors and sweet aroma. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes.
Step 8
When the garlic and green onion are well-cooked and aromatic, add the seasoned shrimp to the pan. Spread them out evenly. Cook over medium heat, flipping them occasionally until they turn pink and are almost cooked through.
Step 9
Once the shrimp are almost fully cooked (turning pink), add the dried chili flakes and stir well to combine everything. You’ll notice a pleasant spicy aroma.
Step 10
Adjust the amount of chili flakes according to your preference for spiciness. If you enjoy a bit of heat, add more. If you’re cooking for children or prefer milder flavors, you can omit them.
Step 11
Transfer the cooked shrimp garlic butter grill to a serving plate. Finish with a sprinkle of parsley flakes and red pepper flakes for a beautiful presentation. This dish is sure to impress with its stunning appearance and delicious taste!
