A Delicious Miso Soup with Chard and Silken Tofu, Perfect for Picky Eaters!
I wanted to find a way to get my children to eat their greens, so I created this milted chard miso soup with silken tofu, a favorite ingredient among kids. It’s a nutritious and flavorful soup that even the pickiest eaters will enjoy.
Main Ingredients- Fresh Chard (Swiss Chard) – 300g
- Silken Tofu – 1 pack
- Miso Paste (adjust to taste)
- Kombu Dashi Pack (or homemade anchovy-kombu dashi)
- Green Onion – 1/2 stalk
- Enoki Mushrooms – 1/2 pack
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start this delicious chard miso soup by preparing the chard! We’ll carefully prepare the chard to ensure a tender texture, especially since it’s for the children. This attention to detail makes a big difference.
Step 2
Rinse the fresh chard thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or grit. Gently shake off excess water, then use a knife to cut the chard into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm long. Cutting them slightly larger will give a pleasant texture.
Step 3
In a pot, add the kombu dashi pack and water to create a rich broth. Once the broth is ready, remove the dashi pack. Dissolve the miso paste into the broth to create a savory base. Once the miso is well blended, add the prepared chard, enoki mushrooms, and the soft silken tofu.
Step 4
As the soup begins to simmer and come to a boil, use a spoon to skim off any foam that rises to the surface. This step will make the soup clearer and more refined in flavor.
Step 5
Finally, add the pre-sliced, crisp green onions and let it simmer for a short while longer. Your nutritious chard miso soup is now complete! Enjoy this warm soup with a bowl of rice. The kids are sure to love it too!
