Easy and Quick Egg Salad Sandwich Recipe to Make at Home
Today, I’m sharing a recipe for a creamy egg salad sandwich that everyone, young and old, loves! It’s perfect as a breakfast alternative or a satisfying snack. Enjoy cafe-quality sandwiches right at home!
Egg Salad Filling Ingredients- 3 hard-boiled eggs
- 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp whole grain mustard
- 10g sugar (approx. 1 Tbsp)
- Pinch of black pepper (to taste)
Basic Sandwich Ingredients- 2 slices of bread
- Pinch of parsley flakes (optional, for garnish)
- 2 slices of bread
- Pinch of parsley flakes (optional, for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 3 hard-boiled eggs. Peel them and place them in a large bowl. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the eggs until smooth and free of large lumps. Mashing them while still warm makes it easier.
Step 2
Add 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise to the mashed eggs to enrich the flavor. You can adjust the amount of mayonnaise to your preference.
Step 3
Stir in 1 tablespoon of whole grain mustard for a subtle tang and complex flavor. The poppy seeds add a delightful texture.
Step 4
Add 10g of sugar (about 1 tablespoon) to add a touch of sweetness. Sugar helps to balance the flavors and cut through any potential egginess.
Step 5
Finally, add a pinch of black pepper. Pepper enhances the overall taste of the egg salad, so feel free to add more or less to your liking.
Step 6
Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Mix until you achieve a smooth and creamy egg salad filling. Be careful not to overmix, as this can cause the mayonnaise to separate.
Step 7
Now it’s time to assemble the sandwich. Place a sheet of plastic wrap on your cutting board, and then lay one slice of bread on top of it. Using plastic wrap makes it easier to shape and wrap the sandwich.
Step 8
Spread the prepared egg salad filling evenly over the slice of bread. Make sure to cover the entire surface, reaching close to the edges.
Step 9
Carefully place the second slice of bread on top of the filling.
Step 10
Wrap the sandwich tightly with the plastic wrap to prevent it from falling apart. This step is crucial for maintaining the sandwich’s shape and keeping the filling contained.
Step 11
Now, it’s time to cut the sandwich into serving pieces. Use a sharp knife to slice the sandwich in half. Cutting while it’s still wrapped in plastic helps keep its shape intact.
Step 12
Take a look at the cross-section of the neatly sliced sandwich; you’ll see a generous amount of delicious egg salad filling.
Step 13
Gently transfer the sandwich halves to a plate. You can sprinkle a pinch of parsley flakes on top for an extra touch of visual appeal, making it look even more appetizing.
Step 14
Your simple yet delicious egg salad sandwich is ready! Enjoy your meal!
