Main Ingredients

  • 5-10 sheets of square fish cakes (adjust quantity to your preference)
  • 2 large eggs

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

In a bowl, crack the 2 eggs and whisk them thoroughly with a fork or chopsticks. Finely chop the green onions to yield 2 tablespoons. Add the chopped green onions and 1 teaspoon of salt to the whisked eggs, mixing well to create the egg batter.

Step 1

Step 2

Add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil to the egg batter and mix again until well combined. Seasoning the batter beforehand adds a richer flavor to the fish cake fritters. While you can simply dip the fish cakes in plain egg batter, seasoning it this way makes them taste significantly more delicious!

Step 2

Step 3

Cut the fish cakes into your desired size. I cut each sheet into 4 pieces to make them a convenient bite-sized portion. Feel free to adjust the shape and size according to your preference.

Step 3

Step 4

Dip each cut piece of fish cake into the prepared egg batter, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Make sure the batter adheres well to the surface of the fish cakes.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the batter-coated fish cakes into the hot oil. It’s crucial to control the heat; if it’s too high, the outside will burn before the inside is cooked.

Step 5

Step 6

Flip the fish cakes frequently to prevent burning and ensure they cook evenly on both sides. Continue frying until they turn a beautiful golden brown and the egg is fully cooked.

Step 6

Step 7

Arrange the perfectly cooked fish cake fritters attractively on a serving plate. They are delicious served warm with ketchup, or with a side of soy sauce-based dipping sauce (soy sauce, vinegar, a little water). These fish cake fritters are a fantastic side dish for meals or a delightful snack for kids. Enjoy making and savoring them!
