Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 bowls cooked rice (half glutinous rice, half regular rice)
  • Bibimi ingredients (seafood flavor used)
  • Pickled vegetables (finely chopped)

Seasoning
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, let’s prepare the rice. Mix glutinous rice and regular rice in equal parts. When cooking the rice, add a pinch of salt to enhance its natural flavor. Once the rice is cooked, stir in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil while it’s still warm. The fragrant aroma of sesame oil will permeate the rice, making for even more delicious rice balls.

Step 2

Now, it’s time to add flavor to the rice. Combine the prepared Bibimi ingredients (this recipe uses a seafood flavor) with the rice and mix thoroughly with your hands. The glutinous rice makes the rice wonderfully chewy, resulting in a great texture for the rice balls. You can also use other preferred seasonings or sauces instead of Bibimi ingredients.

Step 3

Finally, let’s shape the rice balls! Take a suitable amount of the seasoned rice in your hand, flatten it into a round shape. Place a portion of the chopped pickled vegetables in the center, then carefully enclose it with the rice and shape it into a neat ball. Enjoy your delicious jumeokbap! For an extra tasty twist, mix tuna with mayonnaise and add it inside – it’s incredibly delicious. These are also a fantastic snack for kids!
