Simple Dongchimi Cold Noodles
[Dad’s Tutum Recipe] Beat the Heat with Refreshing Cold Noodles Made with Dongchimi Ramen Broth!
On sweltering summer days when cooking feels like too much effort, how about a simple bowl of cold noodles? Easy to make and incredibly refreshing!
Main Ingredients- 1 serving of somyeon noodles (approx. 100g)
- 1 packet of store-bought dongchimi ramen broth (frozen or refrigerated)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, bring a generous pot of water to a rolling boil. Once the water is boiling, add the somyeon noodles for one serving and cook them.
Step 2
When the water with the noodles starts to boil again, add half a cup of cold water. When it boils up again, add another half cup of cold water. When it boils up a third time, turn off the heat and get ready to drain them. (This process helps make the noodles chewier.)
Step 3
Rinse the cooked noodles thoroughly under cold running water, rubbing them gently like washing laundry. This helps remove excess starch and makes the noodles delightfully chewy. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear, then drain them completely.
Step 4
If your dongchimi ramen broth is frozen, take it out of the freezer and let it thaw by keeping it at room temperature or in a bowl of cold water. If it’s refrigerated, you can use it immediately.
Step 5
Pour the chilled dongchimi broth into a serving bowl. Arrange the drained somyeon noodles on top. For an extra touch, you can add toppings like pickled radish, cucumbers, or a hard-boiled egg. Mix the noodles and broth well and enjoy this deliciously cool dish!
