Simple Fish Cake Fried Rice
Savory and Mild Easy Fish Cake Fried Rice
Are you always pondering what to eat for dinner each day? I certainly am! I often think about the next day’s meal before going to bed and even take out ingredients from the freezer to defrost overnight. This time, I was in a hurry in the morning, so I quickly whipped up this dish! I made it for my husband, who loves fish cakes. Stir-frying fish cakes with rice makes for a delicious meal. This fish cake fried rice is also a hit with kids! Let’s make it together.
Ingredients- Fish cake, appropriate amount
- Onion, appropriate amount
- Green onion, a little
- 1 Egg
- 1.5 bowls of cooked rice
- 0.5 Tbsp Oyster sauce
- Soy sauce, to taste
- 0.5 Tbsp Sesame oil
- Sesame seeds, a little
- Cooking oil, appropriate amount
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s prepare all the ingredients for the fish cake fried rice. Finely chop the fish cake and onion into bite-sized pieces. Also, thinly slice the green onion. (I used pre-sliced green onions that I had stored in the freezer, so I didn’t take a separate photo.)
Step 2
Heat a generous amount of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the sliced green onions and stir-fry until fragrant, creating a flavorful green onion oil. This step significantly enhances the overall aroma and taste of the fried rice.
Step 3
Once the green onions release their aroma, add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent. The onions will soften and release their natural sweetness, adding another layer of flavor to the dish.
Step 4
Next, add the chopped fish cake to the pan and stir-fry with the onions. The fish cake will get coated in the oil and become wonderfully chewy and delicious. Can you already smell the amazing aroma?
Step 5
Push the ingredients to one side of the pan to create space. Crack an egg into the empty space and scramble it. Once the egg is partially cooked, break it up and stir-fry it together with the other ingredients until well combined.
Step 6
Now it’s time to add the rice and stir-fry everything together. I used slightly thawed cold rice from the freezer to utilize leftover rice. Make sure to break up any clumps of rice with your spatula as you stir-fry.
Step 7
Once the rice is well incorporated and stir-fried with the other ingredients, add 0.5 tablespoon of oyster sauce for a savory boost and a splash of soy sauce. Stir-fry thoroughly, then taste and adjust the seasoning by adding more soy sauce if needed to suit your preference.
Step 8
After tasting and adjusting the seasoning, drizzle in 0.5 tablespoon of sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Give it a final quick stir to combine everything evenly. Your super simple fish cake fried rice is now ready!
Step 9
Voila, your delicious fish cake fried rice is complete! It’s a quick and practical recipe for busy mornings, and it’s also a great way to use up leftover cold rice. The chewy texture of the fish cake and its mild flavor blend perfectly with the rice, making it a favorite for all ages. Kids especially love it!
Step 10
I found that it paired exceptionally well with kimchi jjigae for an even more delicious meal. If you’re looking for a simple yet satisfying dish, why not try making this fish cake fried rice for a tasty and enjoyable meal?
