Ingredients

  • Frozen strawberry milk 200ml
  • Sweetened condensed milk 1 Tbsp
  • 3 frozen strawberries (for garnish/topping)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the ‘frozen strawberry milk’ which will form the base of your shaved ice. It’s best to freeze the milk in its carton or container as is. If that’s not feasible, pour the milk thinly onto a baking sheet lined with plastic wrap and freeze it flat; this makes it much easier to break apart later.

Step 1

Step 2

Once the milk is solidly frozen, place it in a plastic bag. Use the back of a knife or a sturdy spoon to gently tap and break the frozen milk into smaller pieces. Don’t aim for a fine powder; slightly chunkier pieces are preferable! This texture ensures the shaved ice stays cold longer and is easily manageable with a spoon as you eat it.

Step 2

Step 3

Next, prepare your fresh toppings. Finely chop about 3 frozen strawberries. You can substitute these with other frozen fruits like blueberries, mangoes, or kiwi – whatever you prefer!

Step 3

Step 4

Arrange the chopped fruit attractively over the broken frozen milk ice. Finish by drizzling about 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk over the top, adjusting to your taste. If you were to add red bean paste here, it would become a classic red bean bingsu, but it’s absolutely delicious without it! In fact, skipping the red bean paste makes it even more crisp and refreshing.
