Did your delivery Tangsuyuk arrive without sauce? Don’t worry! Here’s a super easy recipe to make delicious Tangsuyuk sauce right at home. With just soy sauce, vinegar, and sugar, you can create a fantastic sauce. You can adjust the consistency to your preference for dipping (jjik-muk) or pouring (bu-muk). It’s also perfect for re-crisping frozen Tangsuyuk in an air fryer. I had to make my own sauce when my ordered Tangsuyuk was missing it, and it turned out wonderfully! While the fried pork itself is tasty, it’s best with a good sauce. Take that frozen Tangsuyuk out, make it crispy again, and whip up this simple yet flavorful sauce. This recipe is especially handy as many store-bought Tangsuyuk don’t come with sauce. With this recipe, you can enjoy Tangsuyuk at home that rivals your favorite Chinese restaurant!
Sauce Ingredients- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 Tbsp Vinegar
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 3 Tbsp Water or Broth
- 1/2 Onion (thinly sliced)
- Cornstarch slurry (1 Tbsp cornstarch + 2 Tbsp water) as needed
- Tangsuyuk (store-bought or homemade)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a pot, combine 3 Tbsp water or broth, 3 Tbsp soy sauce, 3 Tbsp vinegar, and 2 Tbsp sugar. Bring to a rolling boil over high heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 2
Once the sauce is boiling, add the thinly sliced 1/2 onion and simmer for a bit longer. This allows the onion’s sweetness to meld beautifully with the sauce.
Step 3
Gradually add the cornstarch slurry while stirring to thicken the sauce to your desired consistency. – For pouring (bu-muk): Use less cornstarch slurry for a thinner sauce. – For dipping (jjik-muk): Use more cornstarch slurry for a thicker, more viscous sauce. Adjust the consistency to your personal preference.
Step 4
If you have frozen Tangsuyuk, crisp it up in an air fryer. There’s no need to add extra oil; the fat from the Tangsuyuk will render and help it fry. An air fryer is much better than a microwave for restoring the crispiness of fried foods.
Step 5
Enjoy your homemade Tangsuyuk sauce with your Tangsuyuk, either poured over or served on the side for dipping. If you prefer to serve it separately, plate the Tangsuyuk and the sauce in different dishes. You’ve now created a delicious Tangsuyuk sauce at home with minimal effort, rivaling that of any Chinese restaurant! Perfect for when your store-bought Tangsuyuk is missing its sauce.
