Main Ingredients- Pork ribs 2kg
- Radish 1/2 medium
- Carrot 1 medium
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Soak the pork ribs in cold water for 1-2 hours to remove any blood. Thoroughly draining the blood is key to a clean and delicious flavor, free from any gamey taste.
Step 2
Check the instructions on the back of your store-bought pork rib sauce bottle. The recommended ratio of water to sauce can vary slightly between brands, so it’s best to follow the guidelines provided on your specific product for the most accurate and delicious results.
Step 3
In a large pot, combine the drained pork ribs, minced garlic (2 Tbsp), and the prepared sauce mixture (including water, according to the product’s instructions). Start by simmering over medium heat for about 30 minutes, allowing the sauce to penetrate the meat. Then, reduce the heat to medium-low and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes. Cooking over high heat continuously can make the meat tough, so slow and steady cooking is essential for tender ribs.
Step 4
After simmering for 30 minutes on medium heat and allowing the sauce to meld with the meat, add the prepared vegetables. Add chopped radish and carrot at this stage. These vegetables will add a natural sweetness to the braising liquid and contribute a delightful texture to the dish.
Step 5
Once the vegetables are added, reduce the heat back to medium-low and continue to simmer for another 30 minutes. Covering the pot allows the ingredients to cook gently in their own juices and the savory sauce, developing a richer flavor.
Step 6
When the sauce has reduced to your desired consistency and the ingredients are tender, the dish is almost ready. Just before turning off the heat, stir in 1 Tbsp of sesame oil and 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds. This final touch adds a wonderful nutty aroma and enhances the overall flavor profile.
Step 7
Your delicious, homemade braised pork ribs are now ready! Serve hot with a side of steamed rice for a truly satisfying meal. Don’t forget to enjoy any leftover sauce – it’s perfect for mixing with rice!
