Ingredients
  • 100g Spam
  • 100g Cabbage
  • 100g Onion
  • 20g Carrot
  • A little Green Onion
  • 5 Perilla Leaves

Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Chili Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Tonkatsu Sauce

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Spam is a beloved ingredient! First, slice the 100g Spam into strips. While any cut works, slicing it lengthwise is recommended for better texture when mixed with rice.

Step 2

Julienne the onion and cabbage to roughly the same size as the Spam. Thinly slice or julienne the carrot. Finely chop the perilla leaves for a fragrant topping at the end.

Step 3

Heat some cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add the julienned onion and cabbage and stir-fry until they begin to soften. Then, add the sliced Spam and cook until it’s nicely browned and slightly crispy. Finally, toss in the chopped green onion and stir briefly to combine.

Step 4

Now it’s time to add the delicious sauce. Add 1 tablespoon of chili sauce to the pan and mix well with the ingredients.

Step 5

Next, add 1 tablespoon of tonkatsu sauce for an extra layer of flavor. These two sauces will create a wonderfully balanced taste.

Step 6

Because the chili sauce already has sweetness, you don’t need to add any extra sugar or seasonings. Stir everything together until the sauce evenly coats the ingredients. This simple sauce combination is perfect for drizzling over rice!

Step 7

Serve a generous portion of warm rice in a wide bowl. Top the rice with the delicious stir-fried Spam and vegetable mixture. Finish by scattering the finely chopped perilla leaves over the top. Mix everything together and enjoy your flavorful meal!
