Main Ingredients- 1 pack (500g) Smoked Duck
- 150g Fresh Chives (about one handful)
- 3 Small Bell Peppers (using various colors adds visual appeal)
- 1/2 Onion
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar (adjust to your preference)
- 1 tsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil (for stir-frying) + 1 Tbsp (for finishing)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
1. First, let’s prepare all the fresh ingredients. Get one pack of pre-cooked smoked duck (500g). Wash the fresh chives and set aside about one handful. Core and chop the three small bell peppers into bite-sized pieces. Slice the half onion. Also, measure out 1 tablespoon of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, and 1/2 tablespoon of sugar (feel free to adjust the sweetness to your liking). Don’t forget 1 teaspoon of toasted sesame seeds for that nutty aroma.
Step 2
2. The key to making this dish exceptionally delicious is effectively removing excess fat from the smoked duck! Pour about 100ml of water into a pot and bring it to a rolling boil. Once boiling, add the smoked duck and immediately turn off the heat. Do NOT boil the duck; instead, use the hot water’s residual heat to gently stir the duck for about 3 minutes. This process helps render out the unnecessary fat, making the duck much lighter and cleaner tasting. After draining the duck, place it in a colander to remove any excess water thoroughly.
Step 3
3. Now, let’s start the stir-frying process. Heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and stir-fry until they become translucent and fragrant. Once the onions are softened, add the chopped bell peppers and continue to stir-fry briefly. Keep the bell peppers crisp-tender by cooking them quickly over high heat.
Step 4
4. With the onions and bell peppers nicely sautéed, add the minced garlic and soy sauce to the pan. Stir everything together well, allowing the garlic to become fragrant and the soy sauce to coat the vegetables, enhancing their flavor.
Step 5
5. Add the drained smoked duck to the pan. Stir-fry with the other ingredients for just about 1 minute. Since the smoked duck is already cooked, overcooking can make it tough. The goal here is simply to warm it through.
Step 6
6. Finally, it’s time to add the fresh chives. Chives are best enjoyed when slightly wilted but still retaining some crunch. Add them to the pan and stir-fry for only about 30 seconds, just until they begin to soften. This preserves their fresh, slightly pungent flavor and vibrant green color.
Step 7
7. Once all ingredients are combined and heated through, turn off the heat. For the finishing touch, sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds evenly over the dish and drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for an extra layer of nutty aroma. Give it a final gentle toss. Your delicious Smoked Duck and Chives Stir-fry is ready! Enjoy this hearty and flavorful meal with a side of warm rice.
