- Sake (or mirin) 1 Tbsp
- Oligosaccharide (or corn syrup) 1 Tbsp
- Minced garlic 0.5 Tbsp
- Black pepper, a pinch
Optional Ingredients- Parsley flakes, a pinch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare your vegetables. Peel and dice the onion into bite-sized pieces. Remove the seeds from the red bell pepper and chop it into similar-sized pieces. Do the same for the green bell pepper. Using different colored bell peppers will make the dish more visually appealing.
Step 2
Let’s make the delicious chop steak sauce! In a small bowl, combine 3 Tbsp of tonkatsu sauce, 1.5 Tbsp of ketchup, 1 Tbsp of oyster sauce, 1 Tbsp of sake (or mirin), 1 Tbsp of oligosaccharide (or corn syrup), 0.5 Tbsp of minced garlic, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Preparing the sauce in advance will save you time during cooking.
Step 3
Heat a pan over medium heat. Add the smoked duck and cook until it’s golden brown on both sides. Since smoked duck is already quite fatty, you likely won’t need to add any extra oil. The duck will render its own delicious fat, adding to the flavor. Crisping up the skin will make it even tastier.
Step 4
Once the smoked duck is nicely browned, add the prepared chopped vegetables to the pan and stir-fry them together with the duck. Cook just until the vegetables are slightly tender. Pour in all of the prepared sauce and stir well. Increase the heat to high and stir-fry quickly to ensure the sauce coats everything evenly and thickens slightly. Finally, sprinkle with parsley flakes for a beautiful garnish and added aroma. Serve it over warm rice for a delicious rice bowl, or enjoy it as a perfect appetizer with a cold beer!
