Smooth Rice Porridge (8x Dilution for First Foods)
Making 8x Dilution Rice Porridge for Early Baby Food: First Rice Cereal Made with Whole Grains, Not Flour!
This recipe yields a total of 660g of rice porridge. You’ll get 8 cubes of 60g each and 3 containers of 60g each, providing approximately 10 days’ worth of food for one baby. If you have twins, it will be about 5 days’ worth. This smooth rice porridge is gentle and easy for a baby’s first solid food experience.
Ingredients- 100g Rice
- 800ml Water (for 8x porridge dilution)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, rinse the 100g of rice thoroughly. Add a small amount of water to the rinsed rice and let it soak for about 30 minutes. Soaking the rice grains makes them softer, allowing them to be blended more smoothly later and improving the porridge’s texture.
Step 2
Place the soaked rice into a blender. Add 500ml of water and blend until it’s very smooth. You don’t need to add all the water at this stage; the remaining 300ml will be added while cooking. Blend until you achieve a smooth, liquid consistency.
Step 3
Pour the smoothly blended rice mixture into a pot. Add the remaining 300ml of water. It’s important to stir well as you transfer the mixture to the pot to prevent any clumps from forming.
Step 4
Now, place the pot over high heat and bring it to a boil. Once the porridge starts to boil vigorously and foam rises, reduce the heat to medium-low. Let it simmer gently for about 7 minutes, allowing it to cook through. Crucially, stir continuously, making sure to scrape the bottom of the pot, to prevent the porridge from sticking or burning. Cook until the rice grains are completely softened and the porridge reaches a smooth consistency.
Step 5
Once the porridge is cooked to your liking, turn off the heat and let it cool down. Portion the porridge into baby food cubes or containers, about 60g each. Store the portions for immediate consumption in the refrigerator, and the rest in the freezer. Thaw as needed for future meals. This is a safe and gentle first food for your baby!
