Let’s make some simple and delicious baked eggs! This recipe is perfect for a quick, healthy snack.
Ingredients- 8 eggs
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Making baked eggs, a nostalgic snack often made in old rice cookers or bought at Korean spas (jjimjilbang)! Today, we’ll make them conveniently at home using an air fryer. While the color might not be as dark as some if cooked for a shorter time, the chewy texture and delicious taste will be just the same.
Step 2
The most crucial first step for making great baked eggs is to remove the chill from the eggs. Using eggs straight from the refrigerator significantly increases the chance of failure. Take the eggs out and let them sit at room temperature for about 20-30 minutes to allow them to reach room temperature. Alternatively, if you’re in a hurry, you can place the eggs in warm water for about 5-10 minutes to take the chill off, bringing them to a lukewarm state before proceeding.
Step 3
Once the eggs have reached room temperature, carefully place them into the air fryer basket. Ensure they don’t bump into each other too hard to avoid cracking.
Step 4
Now, let’s set the temperature and time for the air fryer. Set your air fryer to 180°C (356°F) and cook for 10 minutes. This is a general guideline; cooking time may vary slightly depending on your specific air fryer model and the size of the eggs.
Step 5
After 10 minutes, it’s time to carefully remove the baked eggs from the air fryer. Be very cautious as they will be hot! Never handle them with bare hands. Always use tongs or long chopsticks to safely remove the eggs.
Step 6
Voila! The finished baked eggs are fully cooked yet remain surprisingly tender and not at all dry or tough. You can now easily enjoy the delicious jjimjilbang-style baked eggs at home anytime you crave them. They’re wonderful eaten warm, and equally delightful with their chewy texture when cooled!
