Soft Beef and Vegetable Sticks for Baby
Baby-Led Weaning Recipe for 9 Months: Beef and Vegetable Sticks (feat. For Picky Eaters!)
As we started baby-led weaning, I made these finger foods. They are a great way for babies to eat both meat and vegetables evenly, making them a wonderful side dish for your little one.
Ingredients
- 200g minced beef (lean cut recommended)
- 1 Tbsp rice flour
- 1/6 onion (finely minced)
- 1/6 zucchini (finely minced)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, finely mince the onion and zucchini so they are easy for your baby to eat. Gently press the minced beef with paper towels to remove any excess blood for a cleaner taste.
Step 2
In a large bowl, combine the finely minced zucchini and onion, and the drained minced beef. Add 1 tablespoon of rice flour to help bind the ingredients together.
Step 3
Using your hands, knead the mixture thoroughly until it becomes cohesive and has a sticky texture that’s easy to form into shapes. If you wish to add seasoning for your baby, you can add a very small amount of soy sauce or salt at this stage. (However, for a 9-month-old, it’s generally recommended to serve without added salt.)
Step 4
Shape the mixture into small, manageable portions that your baby can easily grasp. Place the formed sticks in a steamer basket over medium heat and steam for about 20 minutes, or until cooked through and tender. This will create a soft and nutritious meal for your baby.
