Soft Zucchini and Savory Tuna Stir-fry: Quick and Easy Recipe
Make a Delicious and Simple Zucchini and Tuna Stir-fry, Perfect for Kids’ Meals!
Today, I’m sharing a recipe for Zucchini and Tuna Stir-fry. I originally planned to make just zucchini stir-fry, but I had a lot of canned tuna from gift sets, so I decided to add it in! We received tuna cans from last year’s Chuseok and this year’s Seollal, and they’ve been piling up. I can’t even remember the last time I bought tuna from the supermarket! I thought this would be a great side dish for kids, especially since most children dislike vegetables but love tuna. Even if some kids pick out the tuna, the combination of zucchini and tuna is likely to be a hit. Let’s get started on how to make this delicious Zucchini and Tuna Stir-fry right away. It’s a real rice-lover’s dish!
Main Ingredients- 1 medium Zucchini
- 1 can (250g) Tuna
- 1/2 stalk Green Onion
- 1/2 medium Onion
Seasoning- 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
- 3 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Oyster Sauce
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the green onion, which will add a wonderful aroma to the stir-fry. Slice the green onion in half lengthwise, then cut it into thin slices about 0.3cm thick. Slicing it thinly like this will improve its texture when stir-fried.
Step 2
Next, prepare the onion. Just like the green onion, slice the onion thinly into strips about 0.3cm thick. If the slices are too thick, they will take longer to cook, so aim for a thin, even cut.
Step 3
Now it’s time to prepare the star ingredient, the zucchini. Cut the zucchini in half lengthwise, then slice it into pieces about 0.5cm thick. Try to keep the slices consistent in thickness so they cook evenly and don’t break apart during stir-frying.
Step 4
Before using the tuna, it’s important to drain off the oil. Place the tuna in a sieve and thoroughly press out all the oil. This step helps prevent the stir-fry from becoming too greasy and ensures a clean, savory flavor.
Step 5
Let’s start stir-frying! Heat your pan over medium-low heat and add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil. Add the prepared green onion and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic. Stir-fry until you can smell the fragrant aroma of the garlic and green onion, being careful not to burn the garlic. This aromatic base is key to the dish’s flavor.
Step 6
Once the aroma of the green onion and garlic is nicely released, add the sliced onion, zucchini, and the drained tuna to the pan. Stir-fry over medium heat, ensuring all the ingredients are mixed well together.
Step 7
When the onions become translucent and the zucchini starts to soften slightly, add 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce for an extra boost of savory flavor. Continue to stir-fry for a minute or two, allowing the sauce to coat all the ingredients evenly.
Step 8
Once all the ingredients are cooked through and well-seasoned, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to add a rich, nutty aroma. Stir briefly to incorporate the sesame oil, just enough to release its fragrance without cooking it off.
Step 9
As the nutty scent of sesame oil fills the air, turn off the heat. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds over the top as a garnish. Your delicious Zucchini and Tuna Stir-fry is now complete! Serve it over warm rice or enjoy it as a side dish.
