  • 1/2 stalk green onion

Seasoning Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce (or Yeondu)
  • 2 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
  • 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/2 Tbsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp oligosaccharide or corn syrup (adjust sweetness)
  • 3 Tbsp water

Cooking Instructions

Rinse the bean sprouts under cold running water 2-3 times, trimming off any loose root ends. Drain them well. This helps remove any unwanted bitterness or smell.

In a bowl, combine all the seasoning ingredients: soy sauce (or Yeondu), gochugaru, minced garlic, salt, oligosaccharide, and water. Mix thoroughly with a spoon until well combined to create the flavorful seasoning sauce. This sauce is key to the dish’s taste!

Place the cleaned bean sprouts in a pot. Pour the prepared seasoning sauce over them. Add 200ml of water, cover with a lid, and bring to a boil over medium heat until the bean sprouts are tender but still slightly crisp. Covering the pot helps them cook evenly and stay crunchy.

Once the bean sprouts are simmering, remove the lid and gently stir to distribute the sauce. Add the sliced green onions and increase the heat to high. Cook, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until the sauce has reduced to a glaze coating the sprouts. Keep an eye on it to avoid scorching!
