Guaranteed Delicious! Addictive Jjamppong Ramen Recipe for Hangover Relief
Introducing my unique Jjamppong Ramen recipe, a fusion of Baek Jong-won’s Jjamppong recipe, scallion ramen recipes, and more that I’ve gathered! It’s incredibly simple and the taste is guaranteed. I was so hooked, I ate this ramen for three consecutive days!
Main Ingredients- 1/2 squid, cleaned and cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/3 stalk green onion, finely chopped
- 1 Cheongyang pepper (spicy Korean chili pepper), finely chopped
- 1 packet of thick-cut ramen noodles (e.g., Odongtongmyeon, Neoguri, Jjapaghetti, etc.)
- Pork (optional, can be omitted)
Seasoning & Broth Ingredients- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 ramen soup packet (from your chosen instant ramen)
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp cooking oil
- 1 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 ramen soup packet (from your chosen instant ramen)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
If you are using pork, start by placing it in the pan and stir-frying it until browned. If you don’t have pork, you can skip this step.
Step 2
Heat 1 Tbsp of cooking oil in a pot over medium heat. Once the oil is warm, add 1 Tbsp of minced garlic and the chopped green onions. Sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 3
Add 1 Tbsp of red pepper flakes and reduce the heat to low. Stir-fry quickly for about 10 seconds until the flakes are incorporated into the oil and release their spicy aroma. Be careful not to burn them.
Step 4
Now, pour 2 Tbsp of soy sauce along the edge of the pan. Let it sizzle and caramelize slightly against the hot pan; this adds depth of flavor. Tip: If you have any leftover soy sauce from fermenting pickled crabs (gejang), using that will make your jjamppong ramen even more delicious and rich.
Step 5
Add the prepared squid pieces and stir-fry them quickly with the other ingredients. The squid will cook and release a flavorful broth.
Step 6
Add the soup packet from your instant ramen. This will enhance the savory umami of the jjamppong.
Step 7
Pour in a bit more water than you would for a regular ramen. This is because you’ve added soy sauce and will be using thicker noodles, which require more water and time to cook. Add the chopped Cheongyang pepper as well, and bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.
Step 8
Once the water is boiling vigorously, add the ramen noodles. Thick noodles like those in Odongtongmyeon, Neoguri, or Jjapaghetti are highly recommended for this jjamppong ramen. Gently separate the noodles as they cook to prevent sticking.
Step 9
Continue to boil until the noodles are cooked to your liking. Your delicious jjamppong ramen is almost ready!
Step 10
For an extra kick and even more intense flavor, sprinkle a little more red pepper flakes on top before serving. Enjoy your incredibly delicious and spicy jjamppong ramen!
