Ingredients

  • 1 packet of ramen
  • 1 handful of bean sprouts
  • Kimchi, to taste
  • 0.3 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 500ml water

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

To make Paik Jong-won’s Hangover Ramen, first prepare the bean sprouts. Rinse the bean sprouts thoroughly under running water, then place them in a colander to drain any excess water. About one handful of bean sprouts is sufficient. Also, cut the kimchi into bite-sized pieces to your liking.

Step 1

Step 2

Now, pour 500ml of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. (You can also refer to the water amount indicated on the ramen package.) Once the water starts to vigorously boil, add the pre-cut kimchi to the pot. If you enjoy kimchi ramen, adding kimchi to Shin Ramyun is delicious, but today we’ll be making a Kimchi Bean Sprout Ramen for a refreshing hangover cure!

Step 2

Step 3

After adding the kimchi and bringing the broth to a boil again, add the dried vegetable mix and the soup base from the ramen packet. I used the Spicy Kimchi flavor of Teumsae Ramen for an extra spicy kick, and its inherent spiciness made it wonderfully hot while eating. I usually prefer Shin Ramyun, but I used Teumsae Ramen since I didn’t have any at home, and it turned out to be even better for a hangover!

Step 3

Step 4

Next, add the prepared bean sprouts to the pot along with 0.3 tablespoons of minced garlic. Adding bean sprouts will make the broth more refreshing, and the minced garlic will add depth of flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Finally, add the ramen noodles and bring it back to a boil. Looking at the delicious ramen makes my mouth water; I can’t wait to eat it, not just for the hangover relief but because it looks so appetizing!

Step 5

Step 6

Ta-da! The delicious Paik Jong-won Hangover Ramen is complete. Eating the steaming hot ramen right away was incredibly satisfying. If you prefer your noodles firm and chewy, I recommend taking them out of the broth as soon as they are cooked. If you desire an even spicier and more fiery taste, adding a Cheongyang chili pepper is an excellent choice. Since I made mine with the already spicy Teumsae Ramen, I didn’t add any extra chili peppers.

Step 6

Step 7

With its chewy noodles and fiery spiciness, Paik Jong-won’s Hangover Ramen, enhanced with kimchi and bean sprouts, offers a refreshing and invigorating taste that’s perfect for curing a hangover. When you find making complex hangover soups too much trouble, a simple ramen like this is a great way to soothe your stomach. Nothing beats ramen for a quick and easy fix! I enjoyed a hearty and satisfying meal with this spicy and refreshing hangover ramen.
