Spicy and Savory Stir-fried Marinated Beef Brisket

Spicy and Savory Stir-fried Marinated Beef Brisket

#BeefBrisketDish #MalaDish #HowToMakeMalaBeefBrisket #ChineseStirFriedMeat #MalaBeefBrisketUsingBoiledBrisket

I intentionally saved some of the delicious boiled beef brisket that I made earlier. Using that leftover brisket, I tried to recreate a dish similar to the ‘Sobeipil’ served at lamb skewer restaurants. I made this spicy stir-fried beef brisket by using a spicy Mala hot pot sauce and ‘lajiao you’ (chili oil sauce). Don’t worry, it’s not so spicy that it will make you cry or run your nose! ^^

  • Carrot 1/2
  • Onion 1
  • Scallions 5 stalks
  • Green chili peppers 2
  • Scallion oil 2 Tbsp
  • Gochugaru (Korean chili powder) oil 2 Tbsp
  • Mala hot pot sauce 5 Tbsp
  • Garlic 3 cloves
  • Minced ginger 1 tsp
  • Green onion (large) 1 stalk
  • Lajiao you (chili oil sauce) 2 Tbsp

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Here are the boiled beef brisket, carrot, and onion. We’ll also add two green chili peppers, which are spicy despite their name. Slice the onion thickly into strips and cut the carrot diagonally into thin slices, then halve them. The beef brisket was boiled with doenjang (soybean paste) to make a flavorful boiled brisket, cooked for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Step 2

Heat a pan and add gochugaru oil, scallion oil, and the green onion cut into long strips, then julienned. Add the sliced garlic and minced ginger. Now, add the ‘lajiao you’, which is key to the flavor, and stir-fry everything together until fragrant. This will create a rich chili oil-infused seasoning.

Step 3

Once the aromatic base is well stir-fried, add the carrots, onions, and scallions. Trim and wash the scallions, then cut them in half.

Step 4

Now, add the diagonally sliced green chili peppers for a spicy kick and vibrant color. Finally, to complete the flavor profile, add the Mala hot pot sauce!

Step 5

Stir-fry everything until the carrots are sufficiently tender. Since not much liquid was released in this stir-fry, we didn’t need to use a starch slurry. After stir-frying, drizzle a bit of sesame oil around the edges as a final touch. This helps to mellow the spiciness slightly.

Step 6

Arrange the stir-fried beef brisket and colorful vegetables on a serving plate. This is the completed Mala Beef Brisket, inspired by the ‘Sobeipil’ dish! It has a subtle spicy aroma but isn’t overwhelmingly hot. Enjoy this delicious dish made with leftover boiled brisket!
