Main Ingredients- 1 pack chicken breast
- 1/2 stalk green onion
- 1 onion
- 1/5 head cabbage
- 1 handful tteokbokki rice cakes (about 100g)
- 1 medium sweet potato
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s get started on making this amazing Chuncheon Dakgalbi, a dish that will have you devouring rice!
Step 2
First, let’s prepare the special marinade for our delicious Dakgalbi. In a bowl, combine 2 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp gochugaru, 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp minced garlic, 1 tsp sugar, and a pinch of black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add them to the prepared marinade. Mix gently to coat the chicken evenly. Let it marinate for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate deeply.
Step 3
Heat a wide pan over medium heat. Add the marinated Dakgalbi and stir-fry, flipping the pieces occasionally, until they are golden brown on both sides. Cook the chicken until it’s about 70-80% done.
Step 4
Once the chicken is partially cooked, add the tteokbokki rice cakes (which have been soaked in water), the onion and cabbage cut into large pieces, and the peeled and sliced sweet potato. Stir-fry over high heat for another 2-3 minutes, or until the vegetables are slightly softened and the rice cakes are tender. It’s important to keep stirring to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the pan.
Step 5
When all the ingredients are well-cooked and the wonderful aroma fills your kitchen, your delicious Chuncheon Dakgalbi is ready! Serve it hot with a bowl of steamed rice, or consider making fried rice with the leftovers. Add rice, kimchi, and seaweed flakes to the remaining Dakgalbi sauce in the pan and stir-fry for an unforgettable final dish.
