- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar (adjust to sweetness preference)
- 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 Tsp Black pepper
- 1 Tbsp Mirin (rice wine)
- 2 Cheongyang chili peppers (finely chopped)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a pot, place the 10 fish cake skewers and add enough broth from cooking fish cakes (or water) to cover them. Add the chopped green onion. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes until the fish cakes are tender. (Ensure there’s enough liquid to submerge the skewers.)
Step 2
In a bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients. Add 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 1 Tsp black pepper, 1 Tbsp mirin, and the 2 finely chopped Cheongyang chili peppers. Mix thoroughly with a spoon until all the seasonings are well combined. (Feel free to adjust the amount of gochujang and chili powder for desired spiciness, and sugar for sweetness.)
Step 3
Remove the cooked fish cake skewers from the pot. Using a spoon or a brush, generously coat each skewer with the prepared spicy and sweet sauce. Make sure to apply the sauce evenly for the best flavor.
Step 4
Your spicy and sweet fish cake skewers are ready! The irresistible sauce, infused with the heat of Cheongyang peppers and chili powder, is truly captivating. Enjoy them warm for the best taste. You can also use any leftover sauce for dipping.
